Abacus Academy Organization: Enhancing Mathematical Proficiency through Abacus Training

Author(s) :   Medha Chaple

Abstract : In an era where digital tools dominate educational practices, traditional methods like abacus training still hold significant value in developing foundational mathematical skills. This project explores the impact of abacus training on the mathematical proficiency and cognitive development of students at Abacus Academy. The study encompasses a diverse group of participants across various age groups and skill levels, aiming to quantify improvements in arithmetic abilities, concentration, and problem-solving skills. The methodology includes pre- and post-training assessments, qualitative observations, and feedback from both students and instructors. Initial findings suggest a notable enhancement in students' mental calculation abilities, improved memory retention, and increased confidence in handling complex mathematical problems. Additionally, the abacus training appears to foster a positive attitude towards learning mathematics, reducing anxiety associated with the subject. This research underscores the potential of abacus training as a valuable educational tool, advocating for its integration into modern curriculums to complement digital learning technologies. The project aims to provide a comprehensive analysis of the benefits and challenges of incorporating abacus training, contributing to the broader discourse on effective teaching methodologies in mathematics education.
