Abstract : NPAs tussle with the stability and growth of the Indian banking sector. To grapple this issue, Government has introduced varied institutions and measures aimed at expediting NPA recovery. This research paper explores the role of three prominent mechanisms - Debt Recovery Tribunals (DRTs),the Securitization and Reconstruction of Financial Assets and Enforcement of Security Interest (SARFAESI) & Lok Adalats - in recovery of NPAs in India. This study seeks to shed light on their effectiveness, challenges, and potential for improving the recovery of NPAs, consequently bolstering the overall health of the banking sector.
