A Review of the Geographic Ecology and Population Change in Haryana

Abstract : The comprehension of the spatial information environment is contingent upon a comprehensive grasp of geographic ecosystems and the atmosphere. Various human activities, including but not limited to agriculture, forestry, physical exertion, urban growth, and economic enterprises, have had a substantial influence on ecosystems on a global scale. The decline in biodiversity may be attributed mostly to anthropogenic impacts on animal populations, while the occurrence of species extinctions has been seen to increase in response to the financial revolution. The Bagar area in Haryana, characterized by its diverse geographical characteristics, is deemed suitable for scientific investigation. The geographical features of this area include gently rolling sandy plains, sand dunes, valleys known as tals, the Alluvial Plain or Ghaggar-Yamuna Plain, the Aravali outliers, the Shiwaliks, and the Foot Hill Zone. The southwestern portion of Haryana has an arid landscape including a wide range of sand dunes. Notably, the Bagar, sometimes referred to as the Baghmara or Jhiwani Dam, is found in many areas throughout the Sirsa, Hisar, and Bhiwani districts. The region under consideration is home to around 10% of the state's population, while approximately 11% of its land area is comprised of contiguous and visually attractive sand dunes that lie next to the Thar Desert. Sand dunes are seen to be widely spread along the border of Rajasthan with Hisar, with significant increase in the southeastern portion of Sirsa district and in the district of Bhiwani. The sand dune belt has a gradual increase, resulting in its extension into the Bhiwani district. The Bagar area is renowned for its arid climate, hilly topography, and scarcity of vegetation within its local confines. The south-western region is home to notable sand dunes, which are of considerable importance. In this area, the nearest assistance is often found at a distance of around 15 meters. Nevertheless, the occurrence of these sand dunes in terrain that is longitudinally oriented is not rare. The valleys located in the Bhiwani region exhibit a scarcity of vegetation, mostly consisting of small, compact bushes. The presence of rocky objects, such as huge boulders, disrupts the homogeneity of sand lots. As the southeastern segment progresses towards the Sohana Plateau, the topography encounters sporadic changes in height in close proximity to the Aravalli Plateau. The Bagar area is distinguished by its dry environment, which results in the existence of undulating sandy plains and limited vegetation as a consequence of agricultural and grazing activities. If there is a serious shortage of soil moisture, it will endure as a persistent issue throughout the whole year.
